The trees are in the ground…
In February 2021 we planted 38 fruit trees to create Knutsford’s first community orchard

What’s a Community Orchard?
A community orchard is exactly what it sounds like- a collection of fruit trees cared for and shared by the local community. They are a place you can grab a pear on the way to school, or pick some apples to make an apple pie!

Where is the Orchard?
You’ll find the Crosstown Community Orchard on Mobberley Road, behind the layby near Travis Perkins. It’s easy to reach on foot from the town centre / Crosstown area and there is limited parking in the layby too.

What will be growing?
We have planted 38 fruit trees – a selection of apples (dessert and cooking), pear, cherry, plum, greengage and quince.
We also planted a selection of ‘wild harvest’ shrubs such as elderberry, hazelnut and crab apple!
