Leading housebuilder David Wilson Homes North West has provided a £1,000 donation towards the establishment the orchard in as part of its Our Space Your Place scheme.
David Wilson Homes are currently working on the Galloway Grange development on Dixon Drive, Chelford.
Adam Keppel-Green, Chairman of Crosstown Community Orchard, said: “David Wilson Homes’ donation will go towards the setting up of the orchard; either towards clearing the site of old stumps and improving the paths so it’s ready to start work, or towards purchasing items such as benches, bins, and signage to make it a real community place.”
“During these times, it is vital to support local causes. So much of what makes communities strong, and an area a great place to live, is the efforts of volunteers and community organisations. Without support from the wider community, these would not be successful, and residents wouldn’t have access to all that they do.”
Adam continued: “It’s great that David Wilson Homes is giving back to communities through this scheme, as it helps ensure that as populations grow, the community grows with it.
“On behalf of the trustees, I’d like to thank David Wilson Homes for this donation; it is the first step in us transforming a neglected open space into a flourishing community asset and we are so grateful for their support.”
Robert Holbrook, Managing Director of David Wilson Homes North West, said: “As one of the UK’s leading developers, it is really important that we support charities and local organisations in our surrounding area.
“Crosstown Community Orchard is a great example of a small, volunteer led organisation going the extra mile for their community. It is admirable that the group is working hard to provide something new for the community during the pandemic.”
